I am learning to ride the bike round the PUMP track. (Van)
I support Van by helping him develop his reading skills.
He is in a small reading group of 4 so has a lot of individual attention.
He has moved up 1 reading level this term so far.
He has lots of opportunities to use the spooner in the playground
and is getting better all the time.
Van has also improved in riding the bike around the PUMP track.
Next Term we will make more progress in Reading levels.

Duffy Role Model Assembly
IMG_3445.JPGIMG_3460.JPG
We had Diana Queenin as our Duffy Role Model. She talked about Dinosaurs
and showed us fossils. She also told us how important it is to read to help our learning.
The children loved the Duffy books that they chose.

ipads

IMG_3466.JPG
I built a school with Lukus on the ipad. It shows our school.
I had to match all the walls and the shapes.(Van)
As part of our Geometry unit in Maths the children had to build either a school
or a house in pairs. They had to use attributes such as shapes, pattern, direction, size and colour.
The children worked well together and enjoyed the activity. ( Mrs Bennett)

Storywriting/ Masks
IMG_3334.JPG

Van
My mask is scary.
I look cool.
Van selected the mask on the ipad that he wanted to have a photo with.
He wrote about it and we published his caption
and put the pictures on the classroom wall.
The objective was to stimulate the children's imaginations.
I encouraged Van to choose the mask that he liked the best.
He thought this one looked cool.
He loved how he looked in it and showed his Mum and Nana after school.

Hakinakina Swimming Sports
IMG_3323.JPG

I went to the Hakinakinka swimming with my school. There were lots of kids there.
We went on a bus. I liked swimming in the big pool
because it wasn't deep.(Van)
We all had a great afternoon at the Hakinakina Cluster swimming sports.
We were there with TKK, Mangateretere and Omahu.
We had fun races like blowing the little ball across the pool with a straw.
We also had flutter-board and swimming races.
The children loved the free swim in the bigger pool.
They were all awesome and all enjoyed themselves. ( Mrs Bennett)
Life Education
IMG_3197.JPG

Harold was cool. We learnt about healthy food.
Harold was the puppet in the truck with Whaea Anne.
I put the love picture up on the poster.(Van)
The children all enjoyed the Life Education Trust visit with Whaea Anne.
We studied VIP ( Very Important Person), which we talk about in class
as we have a VIP each week.
We also learnt about healthy food and the important things that we must do to keep our bodies healthy.
Two weeks later the children are still able to name and discuss what we talked about. ( Mrs Bennett).

School Swimming Sports
IMG_3274.JPG

I had fun at the school swimming sports. We splashed and I had races.
I can get across the pool really fast now. (Van)
I took daily swimming lessons with the children and taught them water confidence.
All children could get in and put their head under.
Some could sit on the bottom. Most can now kick with a flutter-board.
All can blow bubbles and kick at the side of the pool.
It has been rewarding to see how much the class has increased in water confidnce and skills.
I have assessed the children according to the Swim Safe evaluation sheet. ( Mrs Bennett)

Swimming

IMG_3168.JPGIMG_3171.JPG

I like to swim now. I get my head wet. I can nearly kick with a flutter board. ( Van)
It took me several weeks to get Van to bring his togs , with the help of his Mum.
He did not like the depth of the pool.
Now he can put his face in the water and get his hair wet.
He can walk across the pool with a flutter board and kick holding onto the rail at the side of the pool.
I am teaching him daily so that he will increase in water confidence and extend his skills. ( Mrs Bennett)

Bike Track
IMG_3006.JPGIMG_3107.JPG

I can ride a bike. I can go slowly round the PUMP track.
My goal is to learn to go really fast without falling off.
Last time I tried to go fast I fell off and hurt my knee. ( Van)
I give Van lots of opportunities to practise his skills.
He needs lots of encouragement on the PUMP track , as he can lack confidence.
He is a lot better now though and is slow and steady.
Van will get faster as his skill improves. ( Mrs Bennett)
